Second Episode for Jolenes Book and Writers Talk Podcast
It has been a Week from Heck!
I have been trying to get this episode up online since Wednesday. I got a late start because I really wanted to get all of the schoolwork for my first class of the summer term completed in one go. Then I have three certifications I am trying to get through on Coursera and want at least one of them completed as well. Sadly, the way that the modules are set up depends largely on getting PEER REVIEWs and grades for a lot of the assignments within each module. And, of course, the very last one before the final project had 13 different ones. To top it off you cannot go into the final project module until ALL of your assignments have been graded! Now, I, being a good student always graded the required 4 assignments after submitting my own. For some reason, my own has been pushed down, and do not make it to the top unless the students that come after me want to do more than their required allotment or they do not do any at all.
I have sent emails to both the platform administrators. and the dean of the college, that created the certification program, to begin with. And, I even appealed to every enterprising student who bothered to read through that module's forum post for assistance. It is a crazy way to run an online course, especially if you do not delete the really old ones that never got graded or push the oldest ones to the top of the queue for grading first.
Anyway, while waiting for that I began editing this episode. It was taking longer than I expected. The internet was going a little crazy and kept cutting out on Thursday. Friday morning at around 05:30 our lights went out in the neighborhood. Then a massive thunderstorm passed over North Florida with tornados. That put the homes without electricity up to 20,000 from 137 while that was happening. When that cleared off there were a lot of trees and limbs down as well as powerlines that had to be reconnected. When it did come on it took the internet service a while to get back to speed so I fell asleep. Thankfully, when I woke up at midnight everything seemed to be working and I finished this episode but I missed seeing the Northern Lights over Florida.
