Women Blues Songs are my theme today
Whether you love or hate the month of October it does tend to bring out strong feelings in most people. Floridians are not enamored with the month because September and October tend to be the busiest months for property destoying hurriances to sweep through. There are generally still mosquitoess, no-see-ums and knats about but also the love bugs are smashing into your windshield and front grill making a mess. To top it off it is generally still pretty warm the entire month. Unless we get some freak Artic blast dipping all the way down and pushing the hot air further into the Carribean we do not get a lot of cooler days or even nights.
But there is always Halloween. No, I do not participate anymore with the holiday as my kids are all grown and my grandchildren are also grown as well. I only have two of those and have been told imfactically those will be the only ones I will have. And, at this rate I will probably not get a great-grandchild either. Anyway, I live out in rural Suwannee County now about 3 miless from the nearest hard road in among farmers, preppers and retirees who only come be weekend or winter visits to their property.
September is when I found my first bag of Brachs' Candy Corns for the season. They are only here during the last four months and generally will disappear just before Christmas. But from now until just after Halloween I can pick up bags in various shapes, sizes, and flavors (i do like the original flavor and not all these candy apple or caramel ones). Every time I get paid I will buy a couple of bags and put them in the freezer to keep for the rest of the year.
But I still love to play with Canva creating fun Halloween scenes and adding them to my posts. I spend a lot of time creating just to get my seasonal malaise out of my system. It truly was my favorite holiday. I had been known to dress up the entire front yard with various spooky things, create spooky playlists for play from speakers hidden in the bushes. Sadly there were many years that some drama or another would ruin the fun and innocence of night. And there were a few years where we did not have to money for candy let alone for decorations that I wanted to make myself. For the last 13 years I have not had to really worry about that anymore. But, it does not mean I don't miss it. Thus, I am listening to the blues.
