One of my favorite military people has got to be Colin Powell. He always projected an air of confidence, forthrightness and ability to get the job done which we surely need these days. He was the only person in the politcal arena that I thought we could all trust. Sadly, Covid took him the a month before my mom passed. 2021 was not the best year for any of us I think. I am doing research again and came across this quote attributed by Colin Powell and thought I would share. I have also found some video about another favorite historical figure, Eleanor Roosevelt, she was instrumental in promoting the Universal Human Bill of Rights that was ratified in Paris in 1948. She advocated for the U.N. and those rights until her death in 1969. The theme for International Human Rights Day in 2024 is " Equality – Reducing inequalities and advancing human rights ".  The day is celebrated on December 10, 2024.   I thought I would get a jump start on promoting it.  Southern Dragon Publishing

Intro To Astronomy - NonTraditional College Student Exploring The Universe - this is the first week in my latest class for Fall Term. I had a Science with a Lab requirement left towards my bachelors degree and this class is being taught all online - Wish me luck - there is rumors that I have to "MATH" in this class! For those who didn't know last night was the "FULL" moon or the Harvest moon and a partical eclipse when it's reached it height for about 30 minutes between 22:25 to 22:55. I had to use two different model iPhones and an Android device to get some decent pics.  Going back to college can be fun too. I was out and about last evening trying to get some clear photos from my iPhone and my daughter's iPhone of the Harvest Moon at it's zenith when it also had a partial lunar eclipse. TikTok’s unique format encourages creativity. The ability to reach millions with the right strategy can make all the difference in boosting your book sales and growing your audience base. I do not like to give talks in front of people even on Zoom. However, I have found that I can record a presentation in PowerPoint, turn that into a video and share that online. The Question and Answer section does not bother me as much but it is difficult to be articulate so pre-recording the main part of the seminar allows me to relax while the viewers get a more polished presentation.  Hopefully, I am getting better at both!

After signing up online and scheduling an appointment our local electric cooperative that bid and received the federal funding to add fast internet to out little corner of the world, has contractors assigned to connect our house to the pole on the street and another contractor came to day to install the service and router inside the home. We have another installment from last year's Jolene's Book and Writers Talk podcast. The information shared by my friend JoAnn Lordahl on her writing journey is just as relevant today. Sadly, the young later moved further south in Florida so we do not get to visit any more but she sends me emails and keep up that way. If only I could get her to set up Zoom on her phone.  That reminds me I have a couple of things I need to do for her and the republishing of her backlist. She has a nice selection of historical romance novels (They are from the 1970s when she wrote them) so for most of you that is back in history. And she is diligently working on another book she hopes to publish next year. 

Yes, I have volunteered to support another writing event by not only attending it but providing social media posts like videos, graphics and blog articles for the upcoming seminar hosted by the Northeast Florida Sisters in Crime. They are trying to build back their membership and promote local mystery writers under their new president, Lana McAna, who happens to live near me in the wilds of Suwannee County Florida.  The event is an all day affair but they are providing lunch and even creating some lovely gift baskets that are being raffled off for only $1/ticket. It promises to be a nice day of networking as well as learning.  I will probably end up running the Zoom "Live" broadcasting part or I may just be on Zoom watching the proceedings. We will see.  I did get some really good news about my college scholarships today. They reinstated the summer one they took away at the beginning of the month and gave me two more so I am completely covered as far as tuition and books. -
